Indeed a beautiful teapot!

How do you keep the tea warm for a longer period of time?
Since you mention to take time to brew tea, you should also take time to enjoy the drinking :-)

Ciao,

Philip

I pre-ordered a week or so ago. Young designers need a chance and I love how you explained the evolution from idea to thea. Great pot, don't know if I am going to use it often but it looks great.

I hope sales are going ok and that you sell all 300 before they are going into production.

<!--%kramer-ref-pre%-->[...] Ever since I met Brooklyn based industrial designer Joey Roth about a year ago, he has been working on the Sorapot. Seeing it go from handmade prototype to final product has been fun. Roth's take on this common home ware balances function with well thought out design. I really like the glass body which allows you to watch the tea leaves brew in the hot water. The 50s science lab references of glass and metal have a touch of humor without being ironic. This feat is something that current modern design fails to achieve or even attempt. Even the presentation of the directions on using the Sorapot are in lockstep with the pot. This first run limited edition of only 300 tea pots retail for $179. Get the goods while the goods are worth getting. [...]<!--%kramer-ref-post%-->

There's no way to seal the tea leaves off, I'm assuming?

With black teas, the longer you leave the leaves in the water, the more tannins leach into the water, making the tea increasingly bitter.

Green teas are much better-suited for leaving in the water and repeat brewings, IMO.

That said, 11oz is pretty small (325mL, less than a can of coke), so it might not be a big deal.

Beautiful design. With this post, I finally get it.

What's the capacity of the Sorapot? I'm hoping for small -- gongfu cha size.

Thanks,

-Ian

<em>Thanks Ian, I'm glad this helped. I've added Sorapot's dimensions to the main page: 8? L x 6? H x 4.5? W; 11oz Capacity.
11oz is about the capacity of a typical Yixing pot, and I did design Sorapot for the "multiple infusion/ quick steeping time" method of tea making. I'm excited to hear how it works for you as a tool for gongfu cha.
